Zanzibar – THE Paradise Island

April 5th, 2015

I could not go to Tanzania and miss Zanzibar. It’s the most paradise island that I ever saw. Forget about only one island with sun and nice beaches! It’s more than that.
I have directly felt it as soon I arrived in Zanzibar: every of the 1,5 million people are so nice. I could also enjoy, for my first night, the landscape and especially the reflection of the moon on the sea. So beautiful!

As I planned to relax, the next morning, I had breakfast facing the sea. I can tell you that you cannot find this sea anywhere. It is unique, it changes color every hours and regarding the tides. You tell me!

This island has something special, it is like the time stops and nothing matters at all. You finally take time to enjoy life and it’s like that, you don’t have the choice… Transportation, restaurants, people. Why do you need to be in a hurry, why do you need to stress? This is useless. In Zanzibar, « Pole Pole » is particularly useful. Why? It means: easy my friend, everything will happen soon or later… You don’t need to fight against time. And you feel so good with that!

Zanzibar is also an island where you can do a lot of activities. I could scuba dive along Mnemba Island, the most beautiful one in Zanzibar. During my two dives, I has seen all kind of different fish species. But the most wonderful of everything was when I saw a turtle. One of my biggest dreams! I told this place is paradise.

Except scuba diving, you can also do snorkeling but not regular one: with dolphins. That was a wonderful experience because I am sure, as me, you haven’t swum a lot of time with theses.
Finally, if you are fed up of the beach, you can discover the tropical forest in Jozani, in the south of Zanzibar. It’s not a common forest because you can see « Colombus monkeys » (rare specie) and « Blue Monkeys » and walk into the mangrove used to protect the island from tsunamis.

In few words, I only spent one week there but it was very hard to quit Zanzibar and something inside me, like a little voice, told me that I should stay…

What I will remind about Zanzibar:
– Kindness of people
– Awesome landscapes
– All the underwater species: turtle, dolphins, ….
– Peacefulness of the island
